To optimize your mailings and prevent them from being stopped by spam filters it is important to have up-to-date email lists. You can export a list of bounced addresses to remove them from your mailings.

Export a list of bounced addresses

  1. Click on `Attendees`

  2. Click on `Export`

  3. Click on `Bounced emails`.

Different types of bounces

There is different types of bounces, we explain them below.

Soft bounce means that the email could not be sent. This may be due to a temporary server error at the recipient's end, or that the inbox is full which may indicate that the address is inactive. In these cases, a couple of attempts will be made to resend the email to the recipient.

Hard bounce means that emails are inactive, misspelt or otherwise deemed incorrect. Mail to these addresses never reaches a recipient and should therefore be removed from the mailing list.

Blocked means that the email was not sent out from us at all because sending to that address on some previous occasion generated a Hard Bounce, Reject or Spam.

Deferral means that the recipient's mail server temporarily fails to receive the email. This may be because many emails are sent at the same time. In these cases, a couple of attempts are made to resend the email to the recipient.

The email sending process is very complicated as there are many different instances that must interact with each other. The various email providers are constantly changing their criteria for what they count as junk or spam.

At Confetti, we continuously work to optimize our mailings, but due to the variability surrounding mail communication, it is unfortunately not always easy to keep up.
