"Last date for updating registration" refers to how long a guest can make changes to their registration. It is not the last date the tickets are available for purchase.
If you click a specific ticket batch you and look under "set release and close date" you can click the grey button "+ end date" to choose an end date for the ticket batch.
If the date has passed, you can instead choose the "hide batch" option. This will make the tickets disappear and therefore not be available for purchase.
You need to make these changes manually for all the different batches.
